Making Art to Explore the Impact of Technology on Society
Art by @kwano.gen
“My artistic channel is kind of a vehicle to explore different ideas I have on the impact of various technologies on society. I aim to explore, with my work, both dystopian and utopian visions of what these changes mean. Subject matter explorations to name a few include data privacy, AI evolution, cybernetics, alien tech.”

What influence does your background have on your approach to creating AI art and design?
I trained as a designer and have worked in advertising and technology. My Artistic work is predominantly in black and white, mainly driven I think by portrait work I’ve done using graphite from an early age. I like to blend both traditional artistic methods with Ai generations. Influences from natural textures, music, film & graphic design are often ingredients to my creations.
I try and avoid having an exact style, I guess the black and white theme is consistant as a unifying theme, but i ike to apply that to different outputs, moving from photo realism one time, to heavily graphic work the next. Above all I like the work to tell a story, often I use multiple page carousels to do this. I also have a passion for music as well so combining music and graphic design styles is also a strong influence on my work. The Ai community in general and friends in the space are hugely inspiring.
I am blown away by how welcoming the Ai community is and have made so many great friendships within it. My selection of artists in this issue aim to showcase a variety of styles and perspectives that I find particularly inspiring. There is a multitude of unique voices in this space which I think with fuel many creative visions going forward.
